And that's where the dichotomy between Naruto and Sasuke's philosophies on life come from. I'm solidly in Naruto's camp myself. Because even though he almost always comes on top (he still hasn't succeeded with Sasuke yet, AFAIK), everyone still considers him the underdog. I'm not a scholar on the biography of Naruto, so maybe that thing I quoted is wrong...but yeah, Naruto doesn't experience the same stuff emosuke did, but does that make Sasuke the emo bitch that he is? I dunno. And for some reason, I wish he didn't, it'd save him (and the colour) from SOME embarrassment, but I guess that's your point about the kid wanting to stand out... If you want to check out the anime avoid the fillers, they are pretty much pointless and for the most part crappy. From what I've heard, the fillers are just terrible. I read the manga instead. I'll admit, Naruto is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it for my own reasons. So I'd say that you should at least give it a try before you write it off. But if you don't like it or get sick of it, then I would understand why. Different folks, different strokes.
